James Patterson (James Brendan Patterson), born on 22 March 1947 in Newburgh, New York, the United States, is an American writer and author. He writes in genres such as Mystery, Thriller, Young Adult Fiction, Realistic Fiction, Comedy, Science Fiction, Romance, and Fantasy. Over 425 million copies of his books have been sold. He sold one million e-books and become the first person to sell such a number of e-books. 

Over a decade, his total income is around to be estimated $700 million. To promote and enhance literacy, he has made donations of millions of dollars in scholarships and grants to several independent bookstores, teachers’ colleges, school libraries, universities, and college students. Patterson was also at the top of the Forbes’ list for the maximum-paid authors in 2016 for the third year consecutively.  

Education and Early Childhood 

James Patterson was born into an Irish-descent working-class family. His mother’s name was Isabelle (nee Morris), a teacher and a homemaker. His father’s name was Charles Patterson, and he was an insurance broker.

James Patterson graduated from Manhattan College with a BA in English and attended Vanderbilt University with an MA in English. 

Career as Author and Journey of James Patterson

Initially, Patterson aimed to complete the Doctorate; he also found employment at an advertising agency in New York City as a Junior Copywriter. He has also written many novels. The Thomas Berryman Number was his first novel, published in 1976. He also continued publishing stand-alone, historical fiction, and romance novels.
